I love books! 📚 ❤️I just feel so happy being surrounded by them and find it very hard to ever part with any. In my opinion there is nothing better than losing yourself in a great book! This is my ‘Booklover’ thread sketch, made in honour of all the other Book Lovers out there! Did you know that the designs in my Thread Sketch Collection are all available in multiple sizes and different fabrics? I usually have a few of each design available but you are also always welcome to get in touch with me to discuss design preferences. You can choose your artwork size, colours, fabrics and I am happy to change small details such as hair colour or style to personalise your piece. #booklover #booklovers #threadsketch #threaddrawing #drawingwiththread #freehandmachineembroidery #artworkavailable #artworkmadetoorder #handmadeinmelbourne #buyartonline #supportlocal #supportlocalbusiness #supportsmallbusiness #supportlocalartists #textileartist #melbourneartist #chooseyoursize #chooseyourcolor #chooseyourfabric #personalisedgifts #theperfectgift #uniquegift #uniquegiftideas #giftart

Pre-Covid market day 💕I know I’ve said it before but I am REALLY missing the markets right now! Don’t get me wrong, running a market stall is not necessarily always an easy breezy affair - most involve a crazy early morning start (not my forte!) and some have nearly killed me with a long distance trudge carrying my entire stall! I’ve spent hours standing under a marquee in the pouring rain ☔️ with no customers to keep me company and I have held my artworks down with my bare hands to avoid them being blown away! 🌬 Even in the best of weathers and circumstances setting up a market stall on your own is hard work and I never remember being anything less than completely exhausted by the end of a market day. Exhausted but entirely happy! 😊 Nothing beats spending an entire day in the energising atmosphere of a busy market, sharing the thing that brings me most joy (my creativity) with people who really appreciate what I do. I have met the loveliest people on my market stall, had so many interesting and lively conversations and what a privilege to witness first hand over and over again the impact ones art can have on another!! And let’s not forget that at every market you are surrounded by lots of other lovely like-minded makers. I just love the friendly supportive atmosphere and have made some great connections with other creatives at markets over the years. I am really looking forward to getting back out to markets in the not too distant future! #whatimiss #covid19 #melbournemarkets @heidemarket @redhillmarkets @craftmarkets #marketstall #marketstalls #handmadeinmelbourne #melbourneartist #makersmarket #artmarket #textileart #melbournemakers #cubergridchallenge @incube8r

Cheeky Tuesday Creative Kids

May 24, 2016

Cant believe term 1 of my Cheeky Tuesdays After School Art Club is already half way through!

We have been having so much fun creating multi media artworks in two and three dimensions each week!

I am very passionate about inspiring and nurturing children's own natural creativity. The happily engaged 6 year olds pictured above were given a simple set of instructions in the form of a game to get them started and by the time I paused to take this photo they were completely engaged in working together to produce their giant galaxy frieze.

Each week we focus on a particular skill, technique, medium or often all three. I like to provide Inspiration through fun games and activities that produce their own ideas, fire up their fertile imaginations and produce their own unique artistic outcomes. I usually teach the kids how to manipulate a particular material or combination of materials such as plaster of paris, wire & paint (seen below) then let their own creativity take over (thats happening this week - I'll post the exciting results!)

I have no preconceived ideas about what the end result might look like - yes! it can be scary but its also incredibly humbling and inspiring to me as an artist to witness the amazing discoveries and unique self expression that the children reach when they are given creative freedom (within loose guidelines and a framework). I don't know about these Cheeky Tuesday kids but I'm learning heaps!

and I do have it on good authority that they cant wait to get here each week!
